Picture, in your mind's eye, a smoking-jacket clad Alec Baldwin or Alistair Cooke seated in a comfy and ever so tasteful wing chair (gently flickering fire in the background is entirely optional - it is your mind's eye, after all)...
For the February Program we have chosen for our backdrop "Babette's Feast", an elegantly simple movie with themes of generosity and hope, faith and passion and love. We will expand your knitting palette with tastes of new (and deliciously named) stitches including the well-known Brioche Stitch and the lesser known strawberry and blackberry stitches, the wheatear cable, and many others. Our own Susan Dingle will be our presenter for the February program. In addition to enlightening us about all these wonderful stitches, she will titillate our taste buds with hints of a surprise of her own.
And what better way to usher in the Month of Love than with an AKG drawing for baked goods and luscious condiments. The generous proceeds of this event will be donated to the Guild Library. (Let us know if there are any book or video titles you want us to acquire.) Even if you can't or don't have the time to bake, knit yourself a thinking cap and come up with a tasty treat to bring. Local or imported honey and herbal tea will give someone near and dear an excuse to pause in a busy day for a refreshing "cuppa" to be savored with thoughts of you. I plan to donate a jar of delicious preserves from Serenbe. (I may even buy a whole raft of tickets at $0.50 each to increase my chances of taking them home.) Pair them up with some luscious scones and decadent whipped cream and you have the fixings for a lovely afternoon sojourn. We do need a couple of volunteers to help with this drawing. If you will be at the meeting and are willing to help out, please let Eve or Doreen know.
If you have an idea for a program for our monthly meetings, please let us know by sending an email to:programs@atlantaknittingguild.org

PVC Swift
Ever heard of a PVC Swift? Our past president Donna D. had and wanted to share
the information. Read more about the PVC
Swift here.
SOUTHEAST FIBER ALLIANCE
AKG became a founding member of the Southeast Fiber Arts Alliance (SEFAA) in 2010. SEFAA seeks to develop a vibrant, creative coalition and a comprehensive fiber arts center that will engage the public, inspire and support artists, and teach and display all aspects of the fiber arts. Open to anyone with an interest in fiber, SEFAA will intertwine the fiber art community while celebrating, supporting, and perpetuating all fiber art forms.
