May AKG Meeting

We look forward to seeing everyone at the May AKG meeting! The business part of the meeting will involve voting and installation of our 2009-2010 executive board. There will also be time for discussion and vote on the proposed by-laws changes to Article III: Membership. Then the fun begins! Area shops –owners and staff – are invited to join us please for a Market Night. Have a one skein or stash-busting project? Bring it in for show and tell!

Notice Something Different?

We recently redesigned our Web site and reorganized information to make it easier for our members and guests to browse and enjoy. We hope you enjoy the change. Should you need assistance with the site please let our webmaster know.

Welcome to AKG

The Atlanta Knitting Guild is an independent organization that has been formed solely for the purpose of get-togethers of people who truly love the art of knitting. We hope to share, learn, extend and stretch our skills through each other and outside speakers. We are open to and welcome any knitting enthusiast regardless of skill level. Our purpose is to enrich the knitting experience by sharing and developing the art.

PVC Swift

Ever heard of a PVC Swift? Our past president Donna D. had and wanted to share the information. Read more about the PVC Swift here.

Congratulations to our Members

Our founder Whit was named recently named Knitter of the Year 2008 at Stitches West. This prestigious award, sponsored by Knitter's Magazine, is accompanied by a $1,000 prize, and is given to the person who has best shown the world how special knitting is and how it can transform the lives of others. Congratulations Whit!

Our very own Jean G. has been awarded an 11 Alive Community Service Award for 2009 for her hard work on the trauma bear project. Jean has been personally responsible for hundreds of dressed bears. Congratulations Jean!

STITCHES South a Success

Thanks to everyone who helped with AKG's efforts to make STITCHES South a success! XRX is now taking the flowers on the road to STITCHES Midwest and probably STITCHES East as well. There will be more information in an upcoming Knitter's magazine and on KnitTalk and elsewhere. Pre-STITCHES many in our industry believed that there were no knitters in the South. We will be ending the year with our industry knowing that Atlanta and the South is full of talented, creative knitting artists.
