Knitted EmbellishmentsEmbellishments Mini-Workshop

Instructor: Charles Gandy

Date: Saturday, January 28, 2012

Time: 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Place:  SEFAA Center, South East Fiber Arts Alliance, 1705 Commerce NW, Atlanta GA

Fee: $10 for guild members, $15 for non-guild members

Here is a chance to learn numerous ways to enhance your knitted creations through applied embellishments. We will learn a wide range of accompaniments from frilly ruffles to bobbles to twists and ripples, I-Cords, special finger cords and even beading. We will explore, through a hands-on sampler, how these techniques can make your projects unique and knitted with personality!

Our instructor is Master Knitter Charles D. Gandy. Charles who lives in north Georgia began his knitting career at a very early age. Charles' mother, a knit-wear designer and shop owner, taught him to knit at the young age of four. He designed his first sweater three years later and continues to create today. Charles is a two-time winner in the recent Knitters Magazine: "Think Outside the Sox" contest and is the author of "The Embellished Sock: Knitted Art for the Foot."

Socks Two at a Time (TAAT) Mini-Workshop

Say good bye to Sockitis on Saturday, February 11, 2012! Once you go TAAT, you will never go back to dpn's! Come and be inspired to knit two socks at a time. You will be amazed by this fabulous technique. Your socks will be beautiful and they will match!

Our instructor is Master Knitter and Master Teacher Pam Cornutt. Pam, an AKG member, is a seasoned mini-workshops instructor. She has been happily married to her high school sweetheart for 31 years with grown kids who should (please!) go off of the payroll early next year (they both graduate this December - YEA!!) She has been knitting for almost 25 years starting with a sweater as her first project. (With Thank You's to the shop owner who taught her to knit). Her undergraduate degree is in Electrical Engineering, so yes, she tends to recalculate the patterns based on her gauge rather than endlessly reswatching to get the pattern's gauge. Nice! :-) Her favorite projects (so far) are her pooling lace jacket, labyrinth jacket (a la Debbie New) and 'the project she is knitting on now'. Also, she usually has a pair of socks (TAAT magic loop, of course) on the needles just for down time in front of the TV. She can be found in technique classes at Stitches South and on Ravelry most mornings.
