About the Guild
The Atlanta Knitting Guild is a community of makers. We welcome knitters and all fiber craft enthusiasts to our meetings, events, and gatherings.

We meet on the first Thursday of the month, except when we need to adjust our schedule for holidays. Our meetings are in-person and broadcast via Zoom when possible and feature social knitting, a monthly program, and a member show-and-tell.

We host meet ups (social knitting) throughout the month on both Zoom and various locations in the Atlanta, GA area.

The Guild's Origin Story...
The Atlanta Knitting Guild started as an informal gathering of interested knitters in a local yarn store in 1985. The five knitters who attended were so enthusiastic, they decided to meet in a different Atlanta yarn store each month. Whit Robbins (now President Emerita) soon took responsibility for the endeavor. As word of the group spread, Whit found her phone inundated with callers eager to join. She found a library that would provide free meeting space and pulled the knitters together into a more formal organization. Notices of the Guild’s formation went into neighborhood papers in the city and the first official meeting of the Atlanta Knitting Guild was held on February 6, 1985. Those initial five knitters had turned into 52 participants!
